Transfering iTunes data to new PC?

Anyone know how to transfer the data that tells me how many plays I have and ratings for each song I transfer from my old PC to my new on in iTunes.

hought it should be simple but the web guides I have found don't make sense to me

Hey stuie!

You could use CopyTrans http://www.copytrans.net/index.php

Not used it my self but this should do what you are after!

Re: Transfering iTunes data to new PC?

Thanks Stenk, can;t look at the site as my works email says it is a remote proxy or summat!

I did manage to sort it last night though thanks. Had to

1. Export old PC's iTunes library file.xml to a usb stick.

2. Replace new PC's library file (needed to rename from library.xml to iTunes library file.xml.

3. Open this .xml document in notepad and 'find and replace all' of the paths to old iTunes media location (eg X:/Itunes/) to the new location (eg D:/Itunes/)

4. On the new PC still, open the iTunes library file.itl in notepad and using Control+A select all the (garbled) text and delete it. Save and close.

5. Ensure this edited itl file is empty (0kb)

6. Run iTunes, it will try to use the itl file as its library but as its blank it will revert to the xml file which has all of your library data from the old PC and now points to the correct location of your music!

Worked for me Just need to sort mt pigging email system out!
