Linux like you've never seen before

Well some of you might have, but wow - if Ubuntu added that as default it would really push it ahead of the competition... and this vid was back in 2006!

Re: Linux like you've never seen before

Hmm, I don't know. All of that seems pretty pointless to me.

Re: Linux like you've never seen before

Ubuntu has compiz already. You just have to turn it on under the display properties. It's not the default because it needs a fairly powerful video card.

Re: Linux like you've never seen before

Besides, he's doing a lot of cheesy crap that isn't really useful in real life...

The same cheesy crud that every compiz demo has...

I think there's many far more impressive things that can be done with it that are actually useful. For one thing, you can make the background translucent so that you can see the back and side faces of the cube behind it, and a video playing back there actually displays and plays on the distorted side or back screens. It smoothly scales windows up and down without distorting the fonts or changing how the application works. You can invert applications colors completely as well, and make your windows clear so you can see what's behind them...

But everyone always overdoes the silly spin the cube... put the window half-way on one of the cube faces. Bleh.
