Centre Speaker Problem

Ok, so I got a new TV about a year ago and now I'm finally sorting out an issue that came with it. The TV is on a smaller stand and sits lower than my old one and my centre speaker (mordaunt short alumni) sits in front of it on the TV unit...now every time there's any subtitles or detail that I should see at the bottom of the screen it's hidden by the speaker!

Anyone have a solution that they've bought, built, found, etc? I'd quite like to have the speaker above the TV, but I can't wall mount it as the TV is in the corner of the room...wall too far away, unless the speaker goes on a bracket with an arm and extends about 50cm.

The other solution I've seen is some sort of shelf that fits on the tv, but I'm not having much luck in the UK.

Any ideas?

Re: Centre Speaker Problem

Hmmm, maybe this would work...

...although my tv is pretty slim these days...hope it's strong enough!

Re: Centre Speaker Problem

Why not put something under the TV stand so that it is raised slightly? Or maybe move the speaker to one of the shelves in the stand - that's where my centre speaker used to sit, not sure if you have enough room tho..

Re: Centre Speaker Problem

The TV height is perfect for our seating position...moving it higher isn't really something I want to do...plus I wouldn't want to make it unstable.

My TV unit doesn't have any space for a centre speaker other than to sit in front of the TV, it has doors and no specific shelf Wasn't an issue with my old tv as it's speakers made the screen position higher...the 46w905a has a tiny bezel and no visible speakers therefore the screen is lower.

The bracket I linked to earlier might be too much for the TV to handle...might email them and see what they think.

I emailed them...

In regards to your television being top-heavy, you have little to worry about. Many of our customers put 2 to 3 times the weight on top of our brackets and their televisions. We have a weight restriction of 15 pounds on our brackets and your speaker is well below that.

I'm quite certain you will be very happy with our bracket being a part of your system.

For pictures, you can get an idea of how the bracket works by following the below link.

In the new year I think I'll be getting this...I'll post photos when I get a chance.

Re: Centre Speaker Problem

So I managed to pick up this shelf on ebay (CSB1205pro bracket) and it works a treat...makes the tv a little top heavy but it seems fine so far...also squeezed on my PS4 camera. Can now read subtitles, game instructions, etc, etc.

Now just to post a picture...maybe later...
