Re: Cheapest 4K Ultra HDTV

End of the year apparently.....

Quote:
4K Blu-ray is officially on the way. According to Victor Matsuda, Chairman of the Blu-ray Disc Association Global Promotions Committee, the BDA expects the specs for 4K Blu-ray to be finalized in the first half of 2015, paving the way for commercial availability by the end of the year. This means we can expect to see actual 4K Blu-ray movies and players available in stores by Christmas next year.

Re: Cheapest 4K Ultra HDTV

So what are people using them now for? PCs?

I think some Macs can output in 4K as standard

Re: Cheapest 4K Ultra HDTV

Am I going to notice the difference between 4k and 1080p on a 46" TV?

On a 32" there wasn't anything noticeable between 720p and 1080p...not from about 6ft away.

Re: Cheapest 4K Ultra HDTV

Depends how close you sit - the smaller the screen and higher the resolution the closer you have to sit to pick up the detail.

Not a problem for me as I'd prob put it on my desk just have to wait for Macbook Airs to be able to output to the res first

Re: Cheapest 4K Ultra HDTV

I'd rather all companies sorted out their HD output first before trying to push 4k...there are still hundreds of channels on Virgin and Sky that are still only SD. Until SD is HD then I'm not going to jump all over 4k.

3D is still good fun...I enjoy that...bring on Oculus and PS Morpheus for more immersion in both video games and movies.

If you don't mind off-brand korean TVs, I've seen cheaper ones.
