Re: Sony NWZ-S639F(S) MP3 Player - just ordered one!

Argh! They keep pushing the stock date back! Was 31st October, then 6 November now 7th November! Think I might just wait until after xmas now as I won't get much time to listen to it now anyway

But they're really ugly. And I mean really ugly Nasty plastic back *shudders*

Plus you can't beat sony on sound and build quality which is why I was going for them. I really don't mind waiting - I might just get some wireless headphones instead and use my existing set-up.

Re: Sony NWZ-S639F(S) MP3 Player - just ordered one!

That actually looks pretty sweet. Ergonomically it looks much better than an iPod.

Been thinking about an MP3 player for years but never got one, mainly because of this:

Does this player or indeed any other player have a left/right balance control? I ask because I have one ear that can hear better than the other so listening through headphones most music sounds like it is coming from one side of me head.

I’m pretty sure that no iPods offer this feature - in fact the last time I looked there was actually a campaign to get Apple to support this feature (but to no avail).

That's a good point Thz... but I don't think it does. Might be worth downloading the manual for it and having a look? Had a quick look but couldn't see any mention of it: http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4110117112.pdf

I guess the only other alternative would be to remaster all your mp3s, open them in a wave editor and adjust the level for left/right channel as required. A pain but at least an option.

Just an update to say, months on now and I totally love this Walkman.

The sound quality still just blows you away - it really is quite special!

If anyone gets one, give my set-up a go, in the equaliser, set the true bass to plus 3 (max) and the treble to plus one (or 2 if that's more to your taste). Sheer bliss

Re: Sony NWZ-S639F(S) MP3 Player - just ordered one!

Ive got the original 8gb itouch...i ended up spending the money and got myself some Sennheiser 255 in-ear phones, probably one of the few ways to get decent sound out of the apple tosh.
I know from a small tech show i went to months ago that the Sony mp3 players are awesome when it comes to sound quality; far more richer sound.
and the OLED screen that some of them use is beautiful, great rage of colours that the itouch just cant compete with.

Re: Sony NWZ-S639F(S) MP3 Player - just ordered one!

Well after about 3/4 years I broke the headphones (probably from over-use!) I had to twiddle with them at the connector to get them working right, then thought I would try to fix them and cut the wires in half I might have a go at wiring them to a new plug but in the meantime I have ordered these bad boys!

Will let you know what I think of em - hope they're as good as the ones that came with my walkman, which were amazing.
