I know it's aimed at the younger folk, but looks really good!

I'd rather get the new Ratchet game on PS3 tbh, graphics look better lol!

Re: Knack

I'd rather make my mind up based on a demo than those reviews tbh - never been fussed on reviews about anything that is remotely artistic or creative.

Ratchet does look very good for a PS3 game, but I wouldn't say better than Knack!

Re: Knack

I already played through the PS3 ratchet game, and it's great. I'm still looking forward to playing Knack though when I can actually afford it...

Re: Knack

I wanted to get this, being new IP etc, but the main criticism Ive seen of it is that it is a bit of a kids game, very unimaginative level design and game mechanics.

Re: Knack

I read something similar. Very linear, everything provided as you need it and stripped away when you don't.

Re: Knack

Linear isn't necessarily an issue. I'm still enjoying it.

Some of the best games for the PS3 were painfully linear. (Uncharted1/2/3, TLoU, etc.)

True, but can be less fun if you are spoon fed upgrades to meet certain challenges and then have those advantages removed afterward. Kind of makes you less invested in your character and the game.

I perhaps shouldn't say anything as I haven't played the game

The only thing that happens like that are things that increase your size. Any upgrade items that you find in treasure chests and build up stay permanently, and because they're random, the system doesn't rely on you having any of those things. The only one I've managed to unlock for this is the Relic Finder, which isn't as good as the secret detector, but is somewhat useful.

The size thing is a lot like the Katamari Damacy or Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, except you lose the stuff more frequently.

The neat thing about the random items in chests is that the more friends you have playing the game, the better selection you have from the chests. You get a random item, but you can trade it out for the last item any of your friends got from that same treasure chest.
