Re: Official PS4 Thread

Yeah that's what I thought - maybe they have made the xb1 pad smaller?

Not that much difference between ds3/4:

The PS4 is about the width of two CDs

Re: Official PS4 Thread

The body of the gamepad is much bigger, and the whole thing is just a bit wider. The d-pad and buttons seem a bit bigger too. I've heard that all the buttons and the d-pad are now much clickier and similar to the Vita buttons/dpad.

They've done a size comparison on the net. The PS4 is just a touch bigger than the first generation of PS3 Slim. Almost identical in size really. About where I expected it to be given that it's only about 100 watts consumption.

http://www.gamingreality.com/2013/06...omparison.html

The Overview they have at the bottom of one of the pictures is wrong for the PS4 though, but the rest of the images seem mostly accurate. According to the sizes, it's actually thinner than the PS3 Slim, and narrower, but a tad bit deeper.

Ignoring the overhangs and odd shapes, here's the sizes and volumes.

PS4: 275x305x53 mm 4.4 million mm^3
PS3: 325x290x98 mm 9.2 million mm^3
PS3S: 290x290x65 mm 5.5 million mm^3
PS3SS:290x230x60 mm 4.0 million mm^3
PS2: 301x178x78 mm 4.2 million mm^3
PS2S: 230x152x28 mm 1.0 million mm^3
XB1: 343x263x80 mm 7.2 million mm^3
XB3: 309x258x83 mm 6.6 million mm^3
XB3S: 270x264x75 mm 5.3 million mm^3
XBO: 330x266x101 mm 8.9 million mm^3

The XB1 is not only the blockiest, and thus most accurate of the measures, but it's also the one with the most wasted internal space... The designers at MS aren't very good at laying out electronics...

I'm not sure about the new xbox360 superslim, I can't find the sizes for it anywhere... I think we should see a PS4 slim eventually that is miniscule. Maybe less than 2 million cubic millimeters.

Re: Official PS4 Thread

Nice find Azz, a very good advert for the PS4 - they should whack that on the telebox so everyone can get hyped.

Re: Official PS4 Thread

If you're wondering what Asynchronous Fine-Grain Compute is all about (Cerny mentioned it in his talk regarding future potential for the PS4) check this out: http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/07/...heck-can-it-do

Also, very bold statement from Edge:

Think a lot of people already are - don't think we've ever seen anything quite like this pre-release of a new gen before..
