Grand Theft Auto V

:Vice City???

Well there's not many games series that get me excited before a game has even been mentioned, but its does seem like the GTA IV trilogy is over, with the main game and then the 2 episodes, and that it is indeed time for GTA V.

2011 would be the expected release, if you look at the gaps between the full GTA console games (1,2,III, Vice City, San Andreas, IV) theres normally 2-3 years between them, and this would mean E3 2010 is the perfect time to announce the game and steal the show.

And this image (although it could very easily be faked) could suggest that it would be set in Vice City

Like I said it could easily be a fake, but Rockstar created 3 GTA worlds in the last generation, and I would love to see them revisit them all this generation, finishing with the mega San Andreas in a few years time.

Roll on E3!!! Impressions?

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

They make a good point here, sadly:
Quote:
First of all, why would anyone who got their hands on the list take a photo of a computer screen? Second why would the list be in an image file (rather than say a pdf file, or a word document). And thirdly, when Rockstar have shown stuff at E3 (not very often) they have done so under their own banner and not under the Take Two banner.

Potentially excited...either way, I hope they optimise the engine more for the PS3 when it comes to GTAV! I'll be upset if they can't make any improvements other than the location and soundtrack...

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

Yea they definately need to up they're game in terms of graphics and stuff simply because of some of the stunning games we've seen recently. They also need to make it fun again, lots of people complained that GTA IV lost the San Andreas element of being unbeleivably fun, no matter what you were doing. They need fun stuff to do outside of the main story again.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

I'm playing through 4 at the moment and I can see why people would find it boring after a while...although I do like dipping in and out of the game for short sessions when I find the time. I've got both Red Dead Redemption and Assassin's Creed 2 still in their celophane wrappers!

Agree with you both - they need to pull their socks up a bit and give us something special!

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

Agreed too! More innovative missions, less taxiing around from A to B and B to A Then C to A. More fun. Red Dead is the same but at least all the sharpshooter and such side missions are fun. I haven;t got bored of shooting and skinning the varied wildlife yet!

And yes graphics in a GTA sequel need a boost too.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

I'll probably get flamed for this but here goes....

GTA 5 needs to be PS3 exclusive, not because of hatred for the 360, no no, but rather because of the amount of data that could potentially be stored on a Blue-Ray.

With GTA 4 it more or less had to be developed around the 360 and DVD as swapping disks from island to island would not be acceptable, so in essence, PS3 owners didn't get the sort of game the PS3 deserves and the developers were restricted in the size and quality of game.

Who is to say that with the power of Blue-Ray you couldnt get Vice city AND San andreas on to one game? It may seem a little far fetched, but the PS3 can read multiple layered Blue-Ray disks.

That aside though, i do wonder just how stunning Vice city could look on a next gen console....

Part of me wants them to keep it in the 1980's for the music, but i have a feeling its going to be an up-to-date version of the city we all love.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

They'll not do it, but I can see your argument for it. I just hope that they try not to limit anything due to the DVD capacity and will prefer to cater even better for the PS3.

I don't see why they can't put some effort in optimisation for both 360 and PS3!

Some excellent points there - it's such a shame that so many devs don't make proper use of the PS3 tech!! One of the reasons why I love platform exclusives this gen, and much more likely to buy them over 'ports'.
