Japanese PS3 sales grow 100% week to week

Was wondering how sales were going too

Quote:
Here's some great news for the PS3 in the land of the rising sun: sales have more than double during the week of November 24th to November 30th, going from 17,436 units sold to 34,978 units sold. You can check out the sales chart in Japanese here. This is largely due to the release of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009, which debuted at second place on the weekly software sales chart by moving 168,405 copies. Epic win!

Re: Japanese PS3 sales grow 100% week to week

Those are looking quite healthy for Japan, but in America and Europe after the 360 price cut the PS3 is suffering.

Will be interesting to see what happens over the christmas period and whether the PS3 manages to sell well or not.

Hardware Week Ending 28th Nov:
RankConsoleWeeklyTotal
1DS1,802,879 (+81%)88,954,717
2Wii1,365,476 (+74%)39,004,095
3360800,140 (+83%)24,226,067
4PSP455,490 (+73%)40,729,702
5PS3402,641 (+67%)17,568,481
6PS2291,020 (+96%)122,791,683
7 Total5,117,646

Even tho Sony are selling more consoles then MS the 360 nearly selling double over the PS3 is impressive, the price cut is obviously paying dividends for them, but how for how much longer?

Nintendo are still doing well, which I find unbelievable...why are people still buying the Wii...I just don't get it

Yeah and the Wii practically offers nothing for gamers :-/

I've always mainted that it's no longer in the console market - it's moved to the 'toy' market imo.

I can't believe I've just read this post from the owner of a non biased gaming site!

Re: Japanese PS3 sales grow 100% week to week

C'mon Nintendo have pretty much abandoned us 'gamers' you can't expect me to go easy on them for that! The only reason the other gaming sites don't speak out is cos they are shit scared of losing the 'masses' web traffic.

The Wii was on at my sisters house today - and it was the 'non-gamers' playing it! The rest of us were waiting so we could try out a blu-ray on the brand spanking new Sony HDTV and then later went upstairs to play some Soul Calibur on the PS3

If Nintendo changes their attitude towards gamers (gamers as you and I know them) I'll change my attitude towards them.

Although I should add, that there's nowt wrong with being in the 'toy' market - as it's no doubt doing a job of getting people 'into gaming' (so good for the other consoles too). I just feel a little dissapointed that Nintendo are not aiming themselves at 'me' (ie a gamer) anymore.

I'm almost tempted to buy a Wii to see what all the fuss is about, but those Animal Crossing adverts really put me off...as do those featuring the Redknapp family.

They're all cringeworthy

I've not been interested in a Wii at all since it's launched. I've tried the Mario and Zelda games previously but I just can't get into them.

I admit I am tempted by House of the Dead and Ghost Squad but the Wii is overpriced.

Re: Japanese PS3 sales grow 100% week to week

I had a Wii for a month, and sold it for a small profit. Many of my friends have one, so I can play Brawl anytime I want (the only game I really care for).

I plan to get one either on Zelda release, or when it hits $150. It's the system that's selling the the rest of the pie that don't consider themselves gamers. Apparently, it sold 800k on Black Friday alone in the US.

PS3 will now be getting many more big hitters in Japan. Shirokishi Monogatari (White Knight Chronicles) is coming on Dec. 25th. I'm getting it day 1. Also, next year is Resident Evil 5 and FF XIII, which are both really huge in this country.

Is there another Zelda in the pipeline for the Wii? Really enjoyed Zelda TP.

Re: Japanese PS3 sales grow 100% week to week

First thread I could find about PS3 Sales, looks like Sony is on target for their 100 million in it's life cycle, and I think it's only about a million less than the 360 (which had a years head start).

Quote:
PS3 Sales now over 70 million, Move reaches 15 million, 595 million games sold worldwide
