Re: Best TV for gaming/PS4?

Most if not all Sony TVs should be pretty good match for a console...if they didn't work great with their PS3, etc it'd be a bit daft! I wouldn't put it past them but they should be good

Re: Best TV for gaming/PS4?

Yeah, this is a neat site too - showing lots of Sony's with low input lag: http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/

I may go for a smaller W8 than a larger W6 I think...

Why Plasma Smak?

Quote:
Console Gaming

Weíre putting this at the top of the review so gamers can read the rest of it without worrying. Panasonicís ST60 plasma, reviewed last week, delighted us with its picture quality, but we warned gamers that its video processor responsiveness was slower than the outgoing ST50, although it was far from intolerable. This worried us, because itís unusual for higher-end models (which are typically more heavy on video processing) to be faster for gaming than the basic ones.

Well, the GT60 is. Itís a return to Panasonicís typical buttery smooth gaming responsiveness. Tested with the high speed camera and cloned PC output method, we clocked it in at an average of just 23ms. The Leo Bodnar lag tester device, as usual, is less forgiving, reporting a reading of 43.4ms (which is actually 2ms or so less than it reports for the ultra-smooth ST50). We are still running both lag test methods simultaneously, to get a better understanding of how both interact specifically with regards to the sub-field drive of a Plasma display panel (PDP).

We were almost wiping sweat off our brows, but are delighted to report a top-notch gaming experience on the TX-P50GT60. Panasonic Ė you scared us!
I might connect my Mac to the tele too, so I'd rather an LCD than plasma... plus I think they might last longer - do plasmas still have a 5 year predicted life?

I might try and get John lewis to price match the Sony KDL47W805: http://www.totaldigital.biz/index.ph...oducts_id=4845

I will have my PC connected to mine, ignore all plasma horror stories, things have moved on since the early days.

There is a reason why plasmas are receiving reference level awards over the LCD's.

The W9 Sony's are meant to have excellent black levels too

I have always like Panasonic Plasmas...will have to go have a look at some at some point. Are they as thin as LED tvs these days?

So have the black levels of LCDs

But in all seriousness, aren't OLED screens fast becoming the best and will probably be cheap enough to compete within the next 2 years if not sooner?

Anyone looked at OLED screens these days?

Where you getting those prices from?

Is that GT60 price for the 40"?

The 40" KDL40W905 is around £950, the 46" £1,100 and the 55" £1,600
