Well, since 4 in Japan is considered unlucky, that's not likely to be the next full PS console either.

Re: E3 2011

Wii U impressions

PSVita/PS3 and Wii U, separated at birth? Both of them have similar concepts of shifting the content back and forth between a large TV and the portable unit. Both are the solution to a very Japanese problem. That of there only being one big screen in the house that must be shared. It's more common in the US to have multiple TVs of various sizes. The Vita has the advantage of being completely portable, but the Wii U has the advantage of not requiring more development to support both systems.

Other than that, this is an idea that was pioneered by the Dreamcast, and both the Gamecube and Wii have done a little bit with since then. The idea of having a subscreen for each player to display info only to them. It's well known that the system that Microsoft used for ideas when they were developing the Xbox was the Dreamcast, but there's a lesser known story where when they were doing playtests of users playing with the dreamcast, they found that the players almost never looked at their VMU screen. They were always focused on the large TV.

Even though nintendo has done a lot with the GBA-GC and Wii-DS links, they've always been very expensive and not heavily used. If this becomes common to all systems, will it be used as often as nintendo expects? Sony also dabbled with this with the PSP, but not extensively.

Also, the controller will probably cost more than $100. How many of these will most consumers buy? Just the one that comes with the system, and thus the developers can't count on every player having one. Even Nintendo is showing 1 of the new controller with everyone else using wiimote/chuck controller sets.

Re: E3 2011

I think BF3 is the first game that has made me want to completely upgrade my gaming rig...maybe I'll treat myself next year to a new machine.

And just what is the Wii U all about...don't get it.

When playing your FPS title of choice, have you ever wished that there was something more to it beyond your rank, weapon unlocks, your kill/death ratio and leaderboard prominence? Those things are all great – but what if those matches you fought in actually meant something? What if your successes and failures against your opponents impacted the course of events in a vast setting, potentially changed a virtual world and the gameplay experience of thousands of other players? More than that, what if that impact was felt across two separate games – one on PS3 and one on PC/Mac – that share the same sci-fi universe?

DUST 514 is that game.
Interesting.....

Re: E3 2011

i have to say i had a psp and traded it in due to the lack of good games but the vita is well high on my wanted list...i have a wii which i never playhad it on about 10 times so the wii u or whatever it's called is diff not going to happen with me, i can't take nintendo seriously ,it's kids and sports games. On another matter wish there was more move support like for games like mw3 or bf3 using the sharpshooter like resistance 3.....high on my list which just keeps getting bigger and bigger, the summer is always dead and from september to christmas there's about 1,000,000,000,000 games i want hope santa is good to me this year

Re: E3 2011

It's going to be mild headaches for Eve, but it's mostly going to be just another in a series of changes in the EVE system. Corporations in Eve will be recruiting Dust players and will be wielding them. Corporations that exist only in one side or the other will have to hire corporations from the other side as mercenaries. Dust corporations will need to hire Eve corporations to clear out orbital infrastructure that can threaten them. Eve corps will hire Dust players to help them gain sovereignty over systems.

Re: E3 2011

Maybe some wireless tech will play a part of that...like streaming content to your TV? Most Sony TVs these days are DLNA compliant. Wired is soo old skool, man...wireless FTW!!!!111!!

I've never seen DLNA used for streaming live video, only recorded files...
